Bayern suffered a transfer blow last week as Leroy Sane is set to be out for at least six months as a result of damaging anterior cruciate ligament against Liverpool in the Community Shield game. The Bavarians had been working on a deal throughout the summer to bring Sane back to Bundesliga.
Bayern are in desperate need for reinforcements after the departures of Robben and Ribery.
Sane emerged as the perfect candidate for this position. Die Roten had made positive strides towards completing this deal at the end of July, but now this transfer is unlikely to go through.
According to SportBild, Bayern has not ruled out a transfer this summer. Bayern are considering three options regarding this transfer as per this report.
They could try to sign Sane this summer for a fee lesser than Man City’s demands. Other than this option the Bavarians could go back for Sane in January or next summer.
However, Manchester City will be doing their best to extend Leroy Sane’s contract during this season. His deal is set to expire in 2021. A contract extension will create a problem for Bayern next summer. Manchester City will be in a much stronger position to demand an even larger fee for Sane.
This transfer looked certain when Pep Guardiola left the door open for Sane if he wants to leave. The Spaniard also insisted that contract talks with Sane have hit impasse amidst the reportsthat Bayern had offered a much better contract. Die Roten will be hoping that Sane doesn’t consider Man City’s offer this season.
Bayern meanwhile has improved their depth in attacking department by signing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. While speaking to media on Wednesday, the Croatian winger admitted that he wants to help Bayern in winning the Champions League this season. Perisic will make his debut in Bayern colors next week as he will miss the game against Hertha Berlin due to suspension.
