Christian Falk, who works for Bild, claims that Bayern are still keen on the signing of Manchester City star Leroy Sane, despite the serious injury picked up by the winger earlier this month.
The departures of both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, meanwhile, have seen reinforcements out wide emerge as an absolute must for the Bavarian powerhouse ahead of the new campaign.
As such, Sane, on the back of a challenging season, and with past experience of the Bundesliga, appears an ideal fit at the Allianz Arena.
During the Community Shield two weekends ago, A major spanner was thrown in Bayern’s plans.
Manchester City went head-to-head with Liverpool in the showpiece, with Sane having started the clash.
The 23-year-old, though, was forced off early on, after dropping to the Wembley turf in evident pain.
Subsequent tests, meanwhile, confirmed that Sane had suffered an ACL injury, ruling him out for a likely 7 months.
This had, for all intents and purposes, appeared to completely scupper Bayern’s chase of the German.
It the latest updates stemming from Sane’s home country this afternoon are to be believed, however, this may not be the case.
As per Christian Falk of the reliable Bild, the Bavarians are still hopeful of securing the City star’s services this summer.
Bayern would reportedly be happy to work through Sane’s rehabilitation with the winger, before easing him back into action.
